I was rendering to mp4, (Sony avc/mvc) should I be using the magix one that your using instead? what’s the difference?

Thanks I figured that out from another question on the board, but I was just wondering why the media player plays it way darker. I guess it’s adding its own levels to the file.

The source video is mov. Is it ok to render to mp4 or is mov better?

mov file is dark in player but bright in vegas. When I render it to mp4 it is still bright.

How about audio bitrate? It’s set at 128 mbps right now.

My native resolution is 2048 x 1024 mostly. Very little of it is 1080p.

So I shouldn’t just render it to 1080? I feel like 1080 is good enough

How do I use ProRes?

Should it be higher for mp4? I use 10mbps for my wmv video and it looks good enough.

The video I’m using is too bright to start off with, so I brought the offset down to -15 so it looks good. My question is in terms of preserving quality, is it better to keep it at 0, since when I render to mp4 it darkens it anyways, or does it not make a difference, to bring it down to -15 and then add the levels, which will bring it back up?

I keep reading that video rendering quality should be placed at best but I think all it is is the quality on the video preview window. To test that I rendered in draft quality and it still came out in HD. Am I right in this?

I see. It’s wierd cause also when I paste event attributes on all timeline events of a project file the reversed clips aren’t affected. Something sony should look into, if they haven’t already.

I moved the video to another foler so that vegas can’t find it and then switched the video with another (the same except higher resolution) Except the original file still remains in the project – the reversed clips. Thanks. I took care of the sharpness, but now I have to do the color correction on most of the project. It’s mostly black and white so most of the clips are the same, I just have to bring down the gamma (or offset) a bit.

Actually, just getting to this now, my program doesn’t have the three dots. I’m using vegas 17.

What should my project properties be for best rendering?

I need to fix the sharpness on a lot of clips, and I don’t want the color to change, but I have color correction on all of them. Both sharpness and color correction are in the same group, “video event effects and effect keyframes” so it ends up changing both.

My movie is 23 fps, but has a scene in it that’s supposed to be 12 fps. I rendered the scene first in 12 fps and put it in the project, than I rendered the project in 23 fps, but the 12 fps scene doesn’t look good.

I should probably use quantize to frames from now on so i don’t get this problem next time.

I tried ‘paste event attibutes’ but that doesn’t change the font size

Actually I have my project not set to “quantize to frames” so some frames at the beginning and end of clips are cut. But thanks anyway, your fix saved me a lot of time.

Another way to get this done would be to somehow tell the program to add a few miliseconds to the beginning of my video file. Is that possible?

How do you run the config script?

I downloaded the slipslide tool, extracted it, and put the files in the script folder but when I select it in the program I get an error.

Shoot, I screwed up my post.

I put my time format as measures and beats and the clip ends at 87.4.054 instead of 87.4.042. So I need to cut 12 beats (or is it measures?) from the end of every video clip and add that same amount to the beginning of every clip.

It’s the same movie. Same length. It’s just a milisecond off so every single segment has some of the previous shot. Because I’m cutting the movie not from the raw footage but from the edited film. So in other words, each shot pretty much, if you drag it a second back you will see the shot that is before it. Is there a way to cut a certain amount…

Is there a reason for this? Is there something I can do with my computer to fix that? I noticed that I can work with mp4s that are x264, but with x265s it’s too slow. It takes a while for the frame i’m on to show up on the preview. And it can’t handle anything else like movs. I’m working on a pc.

I have a tv in a moving shot and I need to put a video on it and have it follow the tv, but it seems the picture in picture function in vegas 17 doesn’t have the option to track. What can I do?

I’m used to vegas 9 in which I place the timeline on the left side of the screen and the video preview on the right. And in such a way that the timeline is a little smaller than half of the screen. But in vegas 17 they put the button so far to the right that there is not enough room for the video preview hardly. Is there a way to move that button?…

can I upload a portion of the film so you can see how it looks and tell me. My movie is in 1080p but that doesn’t mean much as a lot of it was shot not too in focus. I added a sharpen effect and noticed a bit of pixelation, but not sure if it’s ok with them.
