Thanks Pat. The workaround I started doing is linking the file and then transcoding it once the linked clip is in a bin.

Ever since this morning, importing still images (jpeg, tiff, png, whatever) causes my Avid to crash. I get the “spinning ball of death” and I have to force quit. This has never been a problem before this morning.

I’m running Media Composer 2021.9.0 on a Mac Pro using Big Sur Version 11.6. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

It seems as though my Avid MC 2021.6.0 (running on Mac OS Big Sur version 11.4) isn’t recognizing a network drive as available for importing media. It also doesn’t allow me to link to media that I manually dragged to that drive (in the proper folder structure). I don’t have the project sharing hardware and only want to edit as a single user…

So Shane was right (as he so often is). USB 3 is NOT fast enough for UHD footage. I bought a thunderbolt cable and that did the trick. Thanks everyone.

I’m having trouble playing back footage in a timeline. The footage “stutters” while the audio plays at normal speed.
The clips are imported at DNxHR HQX (3840×2160) at 23.98 fps.
The project settings are UHD 23.976P.
I’m using a Mac Pro with 64 GB memory and MacOS Sierra Version 10.12.6.
I’m on Avid Media Composer 8.9.3.
