The workaround I started doing is linking the file and then transcoding it once the linked clip is in a bin.</p>

I get the &#8220;spinning ball of death&#8221; and I have to force quit.  This has never been a problem before this morning.  </p>

<p>I&#8217;m running Media Composer 2021.9.0 on a Mac Pro using Big Sur Version 11.6.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!</p>

It also doesn&#8217;t allow me to link to media that I manually dragged to that drive (in the proper folder structure).   I don&#8217;t have the project sharing hardware and only want to edit as a single user&hellip;</p>

USB 3 is NOT fast enough for UHD footage.  I bought a thunderbolt cable and that did the trick.  Thanks everyone.</p>

The footage &#8220;stutters&#8221; while the audio plays at normal speed.<br />
The clips are imported at DNxHR HQX (3840&#215;2160) at 23.98 fps.<br />
The project settings are UHD 23.976P.<br />
I&#8217;m using a Mac Pro with 64 GB memory and MacOS Sierra Version 10.12.6.<br />
I&#8217;m on Avid Media Composer 8.9.3.</p>

I always use the Time Compression Expansion plugin from the AudioSuite to speed a clip up while keeping the same pitch.
