I came up with this, I just feel like there’s probably a more simple way of doing this?

linear(time, inPoint + 1, outPoint – 1, 1, effect(“Time”)(“Slider”));

This has to be a terribly simple thing, but this is day two looking for anything of value and I’ve come up short.

Manually: slider control and you set a keyframe of zero at the beginning and at the end set it to 24 (but this number changes).

Expression: no matter what you set the end goal of that slider to, it always finishes at the end of the comp.

Never mind, I have re-evaluated my needs to just use protected regions 🙂

In 2021… it does work, but it doesn’t actually honor the protected regions, is there a way to do that?

Furthermore, is there a way I can sort of trigger the scaling to happen when the subline animation happens?

It would be cool to make it triggered, but just being able to delay the scale animation by frames or seconds would be cool too.

I’m getting that pesky “must be of dimension 2, not 1” error.

I create lower thirds all of the time.

Often times I use a simple expression to either hide/show the subline depending on if there is text present in the subline or not…easy enough.

Something like this:
