The reason my render is so slow is because I have this complicated custom script that gets progressively heavier on the CPU the further you are in the timeline.

Just finished another 15 hours render and it came out without any issues, so it seems like multi frame rendering is indeed the cause of the problem unfortunately.

I’ll try rendering to a PNG sequence, from what I understand it should be somewhat faster as well.

Another update, I tried rendering with multi frame rendering disabled.

It took over 15 hours, but at least it didn’t have any dropped frames.

Though I’m not sure if it solved the problem or I just got “lucky” with that specific render.

Any other ideas I can try? 15 hours render time is a bit of a problem for me.

Hey guys, just tried replacing the H.264 with ProRes, unfortunately that didn’t make a difference.

Any other ideas?

There’s one footage file that’s used as an overlay effect, its very minor and I’ve used it in other projects before with no issues, but I’ll try to encode it to ProRes first.

I do have multi frame rendering on, but I have no third party plugins at all.

I have 10 visually similar projects (lyric videos) that are finished and ready for rendering, they each take about 6 hours to render.

I have a layer with a stroke effect on it, how can I view only the “end” parameter of the stroke effect on the timeline? (In a way that will also let me edit the keyframes)

Basically just like when you click on a layer and press T and it shows you just the opacity lane, I want to do the same but with the specific parameter I need.

Well if the speed and blur can be achieved in a smarter way then I wouldn’t need those 9 layers at all, I would just use one since they’re all identical.

That would probably work but unfortunately I can’t do that in this project.

Each of these layers is pretty much the maximum image size AE will let me have, so I can’t create a comp that would be big enough for more than one of them.

I have an “array” of 9 layers that are positioned like tiles, right up against each other without any overlap or gaps, like a big square divided into 9 small squares.

These layers all move in complete unison, since they are tied to another separate layer that has two expressions on it to control size and position.

Thanks! I’ve already found this guy’s expression for random movement, but like you said it doesn’t have the pauses.

I’ve tried for hours to add pauses but I’m failing to even get a clue on the very basics.
