AMA plugin issue on export using SubCap generator

A student of mine has run into an Avid problem I can’t find a solution for. They shot on the Red at 2048×1080 24FPS and it won’t export with the subtitles. They are using the subcap generator to create the subtitles and the export fails when the layer is enabled but it worked when it’s disabled it. It gives an error saying

Thanks! The frame size is 2.8K anamorphic – not sure that was clear. I will test both codecs out.

Best Codec for 2.8 anamorphic screener

HI,

We’re cutting a feature in Premier that was shot 2.8 anamorphic. It’s time to upload a screener to the producer for notes. What is the best Codec to use to export this 2 hour file? We will either upload using We Transfer or post to Vimeo, depending on the producer’s preference.

The editor wants to maintain as much of the quality as possible…

It was never desqueezed or reinterpreted so I had to do that and also remove the motion effect added to desqueeze it.

Now I’m at the point where when I open the merged clip in the source browser, it appears as a sliver of the clip (2880×1080 to be exact). The original proxy footage was transcoded to 2880×2160 and when I reimport it it stays that…

HI,

Update, I figured out the issue with the “squished” frames – I have to interpret anamorphic footage in Premier.

I still have the issue with the editor having the clip present one way in the source window and then going back to the squished state in the timeline.

Does this have to do with his timeline settings?

I’m assisting with a feature in Premier Pro. It’s a legacy project on it’s 3rd director and 2nd or 3rd editor with very little paperwork and has a lot of issues so this may be the first of a few questions.

The project was shot in 2.8K (2944×2160). I did not process or sync the dailies. Some of the shots are merged and some are multiclipped.…

Editing recorded Zoom interviews with varying frame rates - Sync Nightmare!

HI,

I’m editing a doc-style project using Zoom recordings for interviews. The frame rate for the interviews vary from 25 to 29.97 frames per second. The Broll that I’m using is 23.98. The resolutions and frame sizes are all over the place.

I put the work on a 23.98 sequence to accomodate the broll and not have to generate frames for the broll…
