I know this is an old thread but can anyone confirm if it’s in fact the JVC and the SONY model mentioned here could play tapes recorded in LP mode? All the manuals (for these two models) says specifically the LP mode is not supported.

I used to have two SONY mini dv camcorders, one NTSC one PAL. Both had generated a good amount of tapes, shot in SP and LP mode. Now the cams are dead or gone, I have no way to transfer the clips off the tapes. Most decks have NTSC only, or, can’t play LP tapes.
