can someone direct how to keep translucency from a png? I’m getting it turning to black from white!

Don’t mean to hijack, but it won’t let me ask this because it’s too similar…

I wonder if anyone knows how to change a logo to translucent? A friend sent me her logo, it’s white, I assume, translucent. It drops in and turns black on import. It’s png. I’ve converted to bmp, same thing.
