It&#8217;s interesting that the installer from Apple behaved differently. This is why I recommended you get it directly from Apple. What I have found is that Apple keeps updating their installers. I always save them on a separate hard drive in case I need them and I&#8217;ve found that sometimes the one I saved will stop working while&hellip;</p>

Why don&#8217;t you make your own USB stick so that you know what you are getting is an &#8220;official&#8221; release of macOS Mojave from Apple. There is no telling what is on that stick or how old the software is.</p>

Of course this isn&#8217;t supported by Apple and I wouldn&#8217;t recommend using it on a Mac that you running your business on but it looks interesting. I may play around with it when I get&hellip;</p>

They claim that Catalina doesn&#8217;t support it. If you look at the <a target='_blank' href="https://support.apple.com/kb/sp803?locale=en_US&amp;viewlocale=en_US" rel="nofollow">Catalina Technical Specs</a> on Apple&#8217;s web site it says <b>Mac Pro (Late 2013 or newer)</b>. 🙁 That leaves us 2010 Mac Pro users out of luck.</p>

<p>Just open the Terminal.app and run this command:</p>
<pre>sudo nvram StartupMute=%00</pre>
<p>Then Reboot. You will hear that wonderful chime again. </p>
<p>You can turn if off with:</p>
<pre>sudo nvram StartupMute=%01</pre>

I assume you want to move the mail off of your hard drive. I would use the <b>Export</b> feature <i>(right-click</i> on each mailbox and select <b>Export Mailbox&#8230;</b>) to export them to another drive and then delete the mailboxes you have exported from your&hellip;</p>

I assume you are booting into Recovery Mode with [Command <span>⌘+</span><span>R] and selecting Reinstall from there. It should sense your OS and offer that as the only option.</span></p>
<p>I would absolutely create a clone of your current drive as a backup. I use Carbon Copy Cloner; worth every penny. Plug in a&hellip;</p>

The heat sinks on the CPUs can fill up with dust over time (especially after years of use). I would open it up and vacuum it out. If that doesn&#8217;t fix it, It could be failing memory. I would run a hardware diagnostic and see if anything turns up. Good luck!</p>
