Preset templates are built into AE. Just press Command (or Control) + N, which brings up the Composition Settings window. Then under the “Basic” tab, you’ll see “Preset:” and a drop-down preset selector. Just choose HD – 1920×1080 – 24 fps.

Select the layer and then look under Effects -> Generate -> Gradient Ramp. You can even animate it (much better than a plain old gradient.

Well the i9 10 core appears to have the processing advantage- and the more memory the better. For graphics and storage I’m now a fan of NOT putting it all into one box (your iMac). One-box solutions are hard to update and costly.
