They have always worked perfectly on my Intel iMacs in the past and the M2 and M4 minis I use now.</p>
<p>FCP 12 handles them perfectly so long as I don&#8217;t rewrap them.</p>

That is what it does with me and the problem is caused because FCP doesn&#8217;t like rewrapped files or at least those rewrapped by Shutter Encoder.</p>
<p>Anyway it doesn&#8217;t matter to me as I only shoot progressive AVCHD nowadays which does not have that problem.</p>
<p>I just raised the matter originally out of curiosity to see whether anyone else had&hellip;</p>

<p>Joema in the link I provided has found the same results as me . . .  normal AVCHD files play perfectly in FCP but those rewrapped in Shutter Encoder don&#8217;t.</p>

BUT that is not the point.</p>
<p>I always knew it would work that way as a progressive file but it should also work as a rewrapped interlaced file. FCP is crazy but I have always known that as well.  &#x1f9d0;</p>
<p>I wonder if earlier versions of FCP X would be able to&hellip;</p>

<p>Anyway, as I said I am not really bothered as I don&#8217;t need to do it . . . I just hate being beaten!</p>
<p>I have uploaded one AVCHD file from 2012 that has been converted to .mp4 in Shutter Encoder.</p>
<p>Maybe you or someone else could download it and see what&hellip;</p>

<p>It&#8217;s not a problem as such because I am quite content with the way I have been storing them for the past few years but I thought I might try rewrapping them. It was just an experiment which has unfortunately failed.</p>

Yesterday I decided to try out Shutter Encoder&#8217;s ability to rewrap the AVCHD/.mts files as mp4s. The originals were shot as 1080/50i (interlaced).</p>
<p>Shutter Encoder did a fine job and the new .mp4 files played flawlessly in QT Player, VLC and&hellip;</p>

I knew about using it in the timeline but not in the browser.</p>
<p>A strange thing just happened. I launched FCP and to my surprise all the long clips were small single icons. I couldn&#8217;t believe it so I quit and launched several times more and each time the single icons were there.</p>

<p class="">However, each time I launch FCP X they have reverted to the default setting and are extremely stretched out.</p>
