Is there a simple way to overlay eg a light leak in Avid MC 2018?

In Photoshop and FCP (and other software no doubt) this is easy … but I haven’t worked out how to do it simply in Avid.

The post-house I’m working through are reluctant to let me download plug-ins … and I don’t have Sapphire etc.

I think this is to do whith PhraseFind and ScriptSync, neither of which I use.
It’s using up almost 25% of my RAM and I don’t really need it on all day!!!

Is 16GB of RAM on the low side? Would a RAM upgrade help, do you think?

16GB of RAM
1.15TB of media on a 4TB Thunderbolt drive
No AMA stuff at all
I just seem to be spending a lot of time looking at spinning beach balls
I do have a couple of big group clips (FS7 and GoPro rushes synced up) but even so … silly things like opening a web browser take an age too!

I’m currently running Avid MC 2019.7 on a 21.5″ iMac (2019) … I’m finding it a bit sluggish and am wondering if going to a newer version of MC would help.
