As I’ve gone back down the rabbit hole of archive and storage I’ve been reminded that storage and archiving cannot be all three of cheap, easy, quick. </p>
<p>We have 200 LTO-5 tapes backed up through Retrospect and probably 200-300 LaCie Rugged desktop drives. Fortunately we’re still able to recover using Retrospect and t&hellip;</p>

<p>20TB HDD&#8217;s are indeed out, B&amp;H offering 20TB Seagate Exos drives for $369. LTO 9 is out with 18TB native capacity, pretty tempting. Hedge is still around; I&#8217;m also seeing Symply&#8217;s name come up pretty often. Seems like companies are slowly starting to swing back from&hellip;</p>

If so you&#8217;ll want to find out the model, and how old it and the hard drives in it are. </p>
<p>One of the issues you may run into is trying to convert 32-bit codecs if you&#8217;re on MacOS Catalina or newer. Is that the case for you? If you convert old videos/DVDs etc, depending what they were digitized to, ProRes may&hellip;</p>

<p>What is brand and model of NAS you&#8217;re currently using?</p>
<p>You mentioned a lot of the files are on the NAS, but what do you estimate the total size of the archive is?</p>
<p>Can you give an idea of the old formats and codecs?</p>
