I&#8217;m talking about an audio crossfade. There&#8217;s a difference between the dissolve and crossfade. You can set default lengths for both dissolve and crossfade in preferences (and you can use a dissolve on audio as well as the crossfade, but I&#8217;m talking about crossfade only here). </p>

<p>A couple issues:</p>
<p></p>
<p>If I add a crossfade (say maybe 5 frames), then try to lengthen the  crossfade to 2 seconds for instance, dragging the two little icons to  the left and right &#8211; the crossfade switches to a fade out on the one  clip and fade in on the other. </p>

<p>My question is more about tracks (as in V1 V2 A1 A2, etc), and just a general mode where it&#8217;s more like traditional NLEs. The more I can use this just like Premiere would be the best&#8230;</p>

<p>I might have a job where they want to use FCPX. I&#8217;ve been using Premiere, FCP 7 and Media Composer for years, and I&#8217;d like to use FCPX as much like that software as possible.  </p>
<p>Is there an edit mode where it&#8217;s possible to edit to audio and video tracks, as in select the track, do a mark in / mark out and&hellip;</p>
