I experienced this same issue and this thread was helpful.

A simple workaround is to precompose your time-reversed layer before tracking.

I just backed up and did that and it was smooth sailing.

I’ve noticed (only recently) that often layers are missing “Blending Options” under “Layer Styles”.

It seems to be in cases where I’ve copied and pasted a layer style from one layer to another or imported a PSD with existing layer styles.
