    Hi there,
Just wondered if someone could help…?

I have just received a dvcam 32 Advanced ME tape from a Nicaraguan charity that I need to get into FCP 5 but it’s just not working.
On the VTR screen when it is playing it says dvcam60i, when it is not playing it says dv 50i.
I have used Easy Set up and changed it to DV NTSC which didn’t work. It picks up the tape (IT IS BEING PLAYED THROUGH A VTR) and the sound but says it can’t find any video.
I have also tried it on numerous different settings and it just won’t work.
The VTR is set to dv (i did try setting it to hdv just in case but that really didn’t work).
Do I need to know what settings they shot it on? I’m not going to be able to get hold of them for some time so if anyone knows the answer please help!

    Many thanks,
    Eleanor

[Eleanor Church] “On the VTR screen when it is playing it says dvcam60i, when it is not playing it says dv 50i. “

This means your VTR is set up for PAL (50i) but the tape is NTSC (60i). Change your VTR settings and your Easy Setup to NTSC.

I think that Walter is right. Many PAL devices can play NTSC stuff and, although the output is not standard, can lead you to think that are set for NTSC playing.
