Hey guys I need some help.

I station recorded Closed captioning on a P2 card for me using a P2 Deck.

I am trying to bring it into premiere and export it as a Quicktime file embeded with captioning.

I am not able to see the captioning after trying every setting in the player window options for captioning, and I also noticed that I don’t have a separate captioning video layer like a lot of tutorials show.

Am I missing something? Is the MXF files on the P2 Card not necessarily embedded with captioning? Is there any way to get it off the P2 Card? When it is played in a p2 player the Captioning is available and visible.

    Any help is appreciated.

First, it matters what version of Premiere Pro are you using…and on what OS?

Is it in a sidecar file? what kind of file?…I’m not sure how the P2 file hierarchy would store that…it may not be data that PPro recognizes as pertaining to the media file.

I think it only works in Premiere CC.

and ya the .mxf file should have it embedded.

in the preferences, enable the “recognize and import captions” option.

    it;s not enabled by default.

    Windows 7

    I have adobe premiere CC.

    The file type is MXF

Closed captioning is embedded, so not a sidecar file.

I have tried going into settings yet, other than the player window. Can anyone give me a walk through on what I need to do to import an embedded closed captioning file

Ok after further trials I have gathered that the settings in preferences: media: recognize and import captions, is on and was on by default on premiere cc. I’m still unable to see any captions or info pertaining to it.

Is there seething I’m missing with the P2 architecture? Is it only available on the p2 player?

    Any help would be appreciated.

if the captioning was embedded in the .mxf you should definitely be
seeing the caption track and captions in the program monitor showing
    up in premiere.

maybe ask the person who made it, what they did.
