Before you go to Big Sur make sure that all of your audio and video plug-ins and external hardware are compatible. That OS changes the FxPlug architecture. I don’t know the answer about partitioning, but I think you are pushing your luck. Kiss FCP7 goodbye. It’s a zombie 😀
